IMPROVEMENT PLAN DISCUSSION
The Town of Narrows is investigating necessary improvements to its waste-water treatment plant (WWTP). As part of that investigation, we are studying the possibility of combining with another town or towns to improve the efficiency of our WWTP systems. The County PSA has completed a study of a county-wide regional system. As a result of that study, Narrows and Pearisburg are further investigating the idea of combining treatment systems. Narrows and Pearisburg are applying to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) planning funds to determine if either or both towns meet the requirements for Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) eligibility, and to develop a defined framework for a partnership if it is determined that combining systems is the best course of action. If successful, the planning grant could lead to future financing for the towns. This concept will be discussed at the Narrows Town Council meeting on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 7 pm, and at the Pearisburg Town Council meeting on December 12, 2023 at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend to hear about the studies and to ask questions.
